1 to 1 /2" wide silk ribbon, is made in India or Nepal, and is repurposed silk fabric. Here at Great Adirondack, we overdyed the white, to create this vibrant landscape of color. The ends or remnants of the silk would otherwise be treated as trash, and sent to a landfill. This wonderful ability to create jobs for women otherwise not able to sustain an income, is what fair trade is all about. This silk ribbon is sewn in strips end to end to make this wonderful yarn for trim, quilting, mixed media, altered art, embellishments, beading, scrapbooking, jewelry, knitting and more.
These are ribbons that vary in width, from 1 to 1.50 wide. and frayed lightly on the edges, for a shabby chic look.
