I did this duster using multiple yarns, doubling alot of them. It is a stunning coat, and very warm. It is a great way to use up alot of small quantities of yarn. The hexagons are made individually, then woven or sewn together afterward, the most difficult part is shaping the neck. I would say it is an experienced knitter's pattern.
