This coat was originally done as a jacket, you could make either from this pattern, by just working it in a shorter length for the body. Uses a worsted or light bulky, fairly easy, I would say an intermediate knitter would be fine.
I find patterns like these are fun to knit using multiple yarns, always my favorite way to knit!.
